When Carter and I first met Heather Fowler, we weren’t planning on hiring a videographer. We felt that professional photos would be all that we needed to preserve our wedding day memories. Plus, we wanted to budget our money towards really great photography, so we didn’t think we it was reasonable to spend more money on videography.
Heather asked us if we were considering videography and explained to us that video could complement photography very nicely, and vice versa. She shared a few videographers’ web sites with us, and we delved into the web sites when we got home. Then, we met with a few of our favorites, and DVideography blew us away. Suddenly, videography wasn’t a frivolous extra, but a necessity.
Investing in DVideography was one of the smartest decisions we made. Not only did video become part of our wedding day, the theme and spirit of our wedding practically centered around it. Before I met Dave Williams and the rest of the DVideography team, I thought the creation of a wedding video involved pointing the camera, shooting the video, and voila, our wedding day would be preserved on film just as we lived it. Nothing too glamorous.
Then we met Dave Williams and saw examples of the magic that he created. As we watched sample wedding DVDs, we felt as though we were watching Hollywood movies. The cinematography and lighting were exquisite, the sound was impeccable (and this was a huge selling point for us), the soundtracks were powerful, and the movies each unfolded as unique stories. Dave captures moments that the bride and/or groom never get to experience, like the cocktail hour, the guest reactions, and the bride getting ready (very fun for the groom to watch after the fact). Dave has an experienced team of editors who help turn the already amazing video into a work of art.
Photos suspend moments and emotions in time, and video connects the moments and fills in the gaps in the storyline. Photo and video complement one another perfectly, and Carter and I both believe we would have been VERY disappointed had we skimped on either one. Our expectations were not only met, but exceedingly surpassed. Both Heather and Dave are top-of-the-line artists. Both have been featured in The Knot Best Of Weddings magazine. DVideography won myfoxphilly’s Hot List in 2007 and 2008, and Dave Williams was voted as one of the world’s 25 best videographers by EventDV magazine in 2006 and 2007.
There are so many awesome things you can do with photo and video, and I’ll be devoting lots of posts to all the exciting things we did with the help of Heather and Dave. Our wedding truly became a photo and video extravaganza.
Here is the first chapter of our wedding DVD — it’s a short recap of the whole video. You’ll hear my brother reading the memoir from my first post. He read my memoir during the ceremony, in lieu of a more traditional reading and to give our ceremony a personal touch!

Nice blog! Good job, Tammy! The writer in you has been unleashed! Look out world!
