My name is Tamara, and I am a 26-year-old newlywed! Carter and I knew each other for almost 13 years when we were married on May 24, 2008 in Wilmington, Delaware. We knew each other through the teenage years and the college years, through the we-can’t-be-apart phase and the I-need-to-date-other-people phase, and through our proudest and lowest moments. We have both changed so much since we first met in eighth grade homeroom, but one thing has remained the same: our unconditional love for one another.
After Carter proposed to me on December 24, 2006, I spent the next year and a half planning, planning, planning! I became completely engrossed in the planning process, and I’ve never had so much fun in my life. What could be more enjoyable than planning the event that celebrates our special bond and deep love for one another?
I have created this blog to recreate the planning process, from our engagement on Christmas Eve 2006 to our wedding day and beyond. I hope it will be a delight for family and friends to read and an inspiration and source of ideas for brides- and grooms-to-be! Please feel free to ask questions, and I will do my best to respond to each and every one.
I am excited to see how this blog evolves. I will be posting about my own wedding to help inspire brides in my area. I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and while our wedding was in Wilmington, DE (about 30 minutes away), my vendors came from the cities of Wayne, West Chester, Aston, and Philadelphia, just to name a few! You can feel confident that all of these vendors are well researched and just plain awesome! And even if you’re not from this area, there will be plenty of information for you, too!
I’ll also be posting about other resources, such as web sites, jewelry stores, bridal shops, accessory boutiques, registry locations, and much more. Though I’ll discuss resources and vendors I used personally, this blog won’t be limited to my own experiences. I’ll be sharing any helpful wedding tid-bits I can get my hands on.
If you have something you’d like to share, I’d love reader feedback. I want to make this an oasis of discussion and ideas for wedding enthusiasts all over the country. Your comments, questions, and discussion are encouraged and make me very happy!
When I’m not blogging about wedding planning, I am pursuing my other passions. I am a health, fitness, and nutrition enthusiast, and some of my favorite blogs revolve around those topics. I love long runs at the gym, peaceful walks with my lab/border collie mix, Kai, and learning as much as I possibly can about becoming a healthier, more well-rounded person.
I’m a public health educator for a tobacco control program, and I’m beginning my Master of Public Health degree in January 2009. I aspire to become the director of a college or corporate health education center and to help others find the joy in healthy living!
I also write for some area publications and am working on my own personal memoirs . . . a long-term goal is to publish a book of memoirs.
To me, the four most important areas of my life are my husband, my family, my pets, and my wellness. This blog is dedicated to the first of those four loves.

I love the new blog, Tam. Creating a wedding from scratch… and starting a new life with Carter… is like the creation of something that has a life of its own. Following along as you spell out all of the details is going to be a joy! I’m looking forward to it.
Love you,
Dad
